Paris Opera Ballet
On occasions my working week can be amazing with a few 'pinch me moments' thrown in for good measure. Last week work took me to Singapore's Esplanade Theatre to see the Paris Opera Ballet Company's 'Da:ns Series', a Tripple Bill featuring three world renowned choreographers. The performance was amazing receiving a standing ovation from an enthusiastic audience - a full-house of 2000.
I travelled with Leisa Jackson our Darwin Director and Tiffanie Hughes who you will know as one of our Principal Dancers who also teaches in our ballet school.
It is important that I watch as many ballet performances as I can to see the technical standard and performance quality of Ballet Companies in Australia and around the world. It is also important to stay in touch with audience reactions and share their theatre experience. Absorbing and preserving every experience enhances the training of our dancers in the Northern Territory.
Tiffanie also knows how important it is for dancers watch performances. Dancers who perform, undertake 'work placements' or audition for ballet companies need to experience as much as possible and see the ballets from the audiences perspective. The experience of audience reactions to individual dancers and the entire performance is as important as recognising the technical demands of different choreography and getting to know all the different styles of world renowned choreographers.
Inspiring, Motivating - absorbed and preserved! Quality again for the NT.
